Lumia 950xl smart phone

Love my new Lumia 950xl. bought for Australia (from HKG) which needed 'factory reset' to change to Australian back ground settings. All straight forward and good.

Lumia 950 XL RM-1085 Single Sim

I have been using this phone for about 2 weeks now. Note that this is an opinion post as I have no talent writing reviews. I have read about every single reviews out there before taking the risk from leaving android. I disagree with most review, they do not give this phone enough credit. I have tried Android, used IPhone (my wife) and I am a technician working for the government and work a lot with blackberry. I could do like a lot of people and give you the details of the specs of the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, but if you are here you probably know those already… Hardware wise I did not experience any issues, the display is great and for the first time, I got a smartphone, I can use outside and see something on the screen. I am still not sure about the buttons layout, but got used to it. I saw a lot of review saying this is not quality built, I disagree, I love the removable back plate, it light and looks good. To be honest, I’m using a case anyway. The setup of the device was very simple, but took a little bit longer than it does on android devices. Especially that I got the firmware update and had to reboot and wait. But nothing really painful, maybe 35-40 minutes’ total. I was surprise that after the setup nothing was PIN to the Start menu, which took me a minutes to figure out that I had to pin at least one application such as the phone application to the start in order to get the Start to show up. I think Microsoft should at lease include the Phone, text and contacts on the Start by default. After this, the challenge was to know where things were situated, since the terms are very deferent. As per example, Contacts = PEOPLE, Text = Messaging. From my experience, using this device is a breeze of fresh air. The start menu (interface) is very relaxing on the eyes, also live tiles give you a lot of information, as per example the Alarms and Clocks application tile is showing you’re the next alarm that is due. This means I don’t have to even launch this application in order to ensure I did not forget to set my alarm clock for the next morning. The camera, is amazing, but I got some great pictures, but also some that got deleted right away. Especially in low light. I am still figuring out all the camera settings. There is a feature that auto correct your pictures after you take them, I am not sure I am a big fan of this as sometimes a great picture getting modified, is not that great anymore, but sometime an Okay picture gets modified and look amazing after. One thing for sure, 95% of my pictures looks great. (Let’s say that I am the new person taking the pictures in the house.) Windows hello, works but is not perfect. Sometimes the telephone unlocks right away, sometime I have to move it back and fort in order for it to detect my eyes. Things are better if you use the option to improve recognition a few times and in deferent lighting. I personally, disabled this feature, since I rather input my PIN to unlock my telephone. A lot of people would complain about the amount of applications available in Windows store. I can see where this coming from, and it is true, that compare to Android or IOS there is a lot less applications and some application are a bit old, but works. I was never an application person, only had a few games and application on my Android. In my experience, I found all the applications needed. Found Netflix, Facebook (wish sucks, I just use the mobile site), Speedtest, there is no official YouT
